| Birding
At 5,089 square miles, Douglas County is the fifth largest county in Oregon and the biggest west of the Cascades. It extends from 9,182 foot Mt. Thielsen to sea level at the Pacific Ocean. Its many diverse habitats include the entire Umpqua River watershed, two large lakes, several reservoirs, ponds and bogs, as well as timberlands, field crops, orchards, pastures and meadows. The pamphlet lists 320 species, including 51 accidentals. |

Diamond Lake, located off Highway 138 approximately 76 miles east of Roseburg, is Douglas County's Cascade Mountains Gem.
